Tyrell Plair
FOUNDER & CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO)
Tyrell Plair is a creative entrepreneur and storyteller, passionately dedicated to crafting narratives for both page and screen. Hailing from Chicago, Illinois, his lifelong love affair with words began early, evolving from poetry and screenplays to novel writing. His B.S. in Applied Psychology has been a cornerstone in developing the diverse, profound, and relatable characters that populate his work. Drawing on his academic and professional expertise, Tyrell specializes in young adult fiction. He also dedicates his time to nurturing other aspiring authors, serving as a coach, editor, and beta reader, helping them refine their craft and bring their compelling stories to life. He takes great pride in having played a part in the successful careers of several published authors.
As the visionary founder and CEO of PlaTy Multimedia & Publishing, he built a company on the belief that high-quality publishing should be accessible to all authors, making him a truly distinct voice in the industry. Headquartered in Atlanta, PlaTy Multimedia stands out as one of the few Black-owned publishing companies in the mainstream landscape. Plair is deeply committed to elevating Black voices and confronting systemic issues through his work. Under his leadership, the company has spearheaded film productions, community engagement initiatives, and media projects, all designed to give a face and voice to compelling stories and ideas. This professional journey—from strategizing marketing campaigns to mastering the art of the storyboard—has given him a unique, insider understanding of narrative construction and the psychology behind a compelling plot. His remarkable ability to explore complex human dynamics is further evident in his frequent appearances as a guest expert on various podcasts and at conferences.
Tyrell Plair is the author of several novels, including Stolen Innocence and Never Cry Alone. His work also includes the co-authored books Just Like My Dad Part 1 and Just Like My Dad Part 2, which he wrote with Elizabeth Johnson. He is a writer fascinated by what lies beneath the surface—the hidden truths, the secret motives, and the unexpected twists that define our lives.
